David Banford, Director, The Wine Society of India

David's 'Passage to India' began in Mumbai, where he attended the Cathedral School. He is the third generation of his family to live and work in India. David pioneered the introduction of direct marketing of wine in the US with the launch of The Wine Society of America in 1986, which grew to become the largest wine club in the US. He later led the IPO of The Wine Society of America on the Nasdaq.

David is an avid collector of Bordeaux classified growths, and has bought more than he can afford of many vintages en primeur! With the launch of The Wine Society of India in 2006 David completes his 'full circle' back to the city of his birth.
